Overview

The Lovers Leap Waterfall is a famous tourist attraction in Nuwara Eliya. The beautiful fall is 30m high, flowing down through granite edges. As the freshwater gets stored in a tank for drinking purposes, bathing in this fall is not advisable.

The falls acquired its name from the ancient tragic tale. A Prince who went hunting met a beautiful damsel under certain circumstances. The two of them later became intimate lovers in an inseparable relationship. However, the superiors didn’t accept the match. Thus, the lovers decided to immortalize their love for one and other and leaped to death from the top.
Tourists can reach the top of the falls by either taking a tuk-tuk or walking the gravel paths way up. It is around 400 meters skyward walk. The waterfall is at a distance of 3 KM from Nuwara Eliya.
