Overview

The wild Ravana waterfall falls from a concave rock. It gushes down at a height; 82 feet, through the foggy mountains. This waterfall sources back to a tragic ancient history. Placed in the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary, this falls is 5km away from the Ella town. The climb to the waterfalls is adventurous.

It ranks as the widest falls in the country. King Ravana was a ruler of Sri Lanka. He had imprisoned a Princess named Sita. As mentioned, the King had kept Sita in the caves behind this fall. History says that Rama’s Queen, Sita bathed in a pool created by this waterfall. Thus, the name labeled to this falls is, Ravana falls.
